Hey all, found the charger I had for a Dell Axim X51v I had sitting around, so hooked it up, and found a NES emulator for it by chance. I'm too young to remember NES games, but figure there might be some interesting ones you guys know of.
I found both back to the future games for it, (Well, the first one and back to the future II/III, unsure how it was organized), they work pretty well on it and the music is catchy in the second one lol.
So, any suggestions?
I'm grabbing them from here and going through the list but I figure I'd see if you guys have an suggestions. http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/NesRoms.htm (http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/NesRoms.htm)
I even found an old 2gb compact flash card to put in it for more storage :D

There's the big Nintendo franchises, Mario, Zelda, Metroid. If you like beat em ups, Double Dragon, TMNT II The Arcade, River City Ransom. If you like RPGs, Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior. Action platformer (with shooting), Contra, Super C, Mega Man franchise, Ghosts N Goblins. Action platformers (no shooting) Castlevania franchise, Ninja Gaiden franchise. For Puzzlers, Tetris, Dr Mario. For racing, RC Pro AM, Excitebike. Mike Tyson's Punchout.
Those are some of the highlights at least.

I've tried some mobile emulators in the past, and they usually run like garbage. If you can find a gamepad you're comfortable with, I'd give them a go on the PC. Legion's list looks okay to me.

I would just note that Zelda 1 isn't as rich as later ones (obviously, I guess), and Zelda 2 is kind of notorious...

I never played it, but I understand TMNT (#1?) is one of the notoriously "Nintendo hard" games. It often shows up at speed run marathons, if that's any indication of a challenge... For more ideas, and amusement, you might watch some AVGN episodes... :P

All great, not all of which I've played, but I've seen or at least heard of them all. The Contra series are especially impressive technically, in my opinion, for all the crap they've got going around on the screen! I don't know if any other games did quite so much with the hardware.

Wow you're right, I never really thought about the demand on the HW while playing Contra, but those really are busy games. One of my favorite franchises as well.
My other top picks: MegaMan (particularly 2), Ninja Gaiden, Super Mario Bros. (of course), Final Fantasy (although any of the remakes of FF1 are better, IMO, since the original was reeeaaallly plain on the NES), I remember Top Gun being pretty fun...

BATTLE TOADS!!!!!!!!

Speaking of visual impact, Kirby and Gimmick! are probably two of the brightest. The latter might not run on emulators (or very well) because it used extra hardware (just audio stuff I think, but I don't remember if it's usually supported or not).

... I'm too young to remember NES games ...
Damn it, i guess that means I'm getting old now (http://www.6pix.net/images/16306699700888597652.gif)
I got some NES games from http://coolrom.com/ (http://coolrom.com/) (EDIT: coolrom seems to be takedown-noticed to death :/)
Legion's list already covers the lion's share, i might add: Lemmings, Pac-Man, Arkanoid, Bomberman, Pipe Dream

Metal Gear is a good one. Also Dragon Warrior (predecessor to Dragon Quest on other consoles), Final Fantasy, RC Pro AM was fun. There's more but I can't think right now.

Combat Frogs
Amphibian Altercation
-
Contra.

I'll be sure to check those out.
I want to get a PSP 3000 when I can to emulate the Nintendo 64, I remember playing star fox 64 on a pc emulator and would love to have that on a handheld, I also remember a really awesome Kirby game though I can't remember what it was for, but I remember there were these rock creatures you could eat, and basically turn invincible.

An oft-forgotten gem is Gun.Smoke. Sadly, I'm not the only one who thinks that, so the second hand prices for the NES cartridge is too high for me to justify the purchase.

Doesn't seem to bad if it's a really good game. http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xgun+smoke+nes&_nkw=gun+smoke+nes&_sacat=0&_from=R40 (http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xgun+smoke+nes&_nkw=gun+smoke+nes&_sacat=0&_from=R40)

Indeed, I've only checked the Swedish market, and people bid up to 100 CAD. Interesting.

Since no one else did it, I'm going to +1 to my own suggestion...
+1 Battletoads!!!!!

I agree with everything everyone in here has said. Metroid is extremely excellent, unless you are looking for a quick victory or entertaining plot progression. I love Metroid. The weird-as-hell music was very well done, and very atmospheric, and the shot mechanics can really make it a very difficult game if you're not careful. Super Mario Bros 2 (not the US version, the Japanese version) is a very, very Nintendo-hard game. Roms can be found in English. I believe it is called "Super Mario Bros the Lost Levels" or something. STUPID hard.
Ninja Gaiden. All the Super Mario series. Metroid. Zelda (the second of which I loved, which is not a common opinion of that game), TMNT, BattleToads, Mega Man 2, Tecmo Bowl... there are so many good games. Heaps of shit NES games, but there are a lot of great games for the NES, no doubt.

Back in the 80s I used to watch my nephew on weekends. He would bring his NES with him and I'd usually rent a bunch of games from the video store to keep him occupied. One night after he fell asleep I started playing this game called Legend of Zelda. Next thing I knew, the sun was coming up. The following Monday I went and bought my own NES along with the Legend of Zelda game. I still have the NES and it still works. I pull it out and hook it up every 5 years or so just to play Legend of Zelda.
