I'd say that generally you can't go wrong with high resolution true color scan. Generally there are two kinds of pictures, camera and computer rasterized ones. When scan pixel is few times smaller than raster that's most likely enough. Camera raster may need more but it's probably so old that information is not there anymore. Line graphics and text has much less information and so can be OCR scanned and vectorised from much lower resolution but if storage space is not an issue it's easier if all pages have same formats. Stochastic raster is probably for newer and already preserved stuff. |
