Anyone got Garmin eTrex Legend?
« on: November 12, 2016, 10:52:51 pm »
Hello :) I was hoping someone with Garmin eTrex Legend,
60csx, 62, or similar could provide a screenshot of the
display that shows local astronomy.. specifically sunrise/set
and Moonrise/set times. I can't seem to find that on the net.

Also why would a GPS be able to display the time before the date?
I thought the date information would be transmitted with the time.
Cheers :)

Hi & Thanks :)
I just discovered about 10 minutes ago, missing the date was a silly parsing error on my part.

Just after the screenshot now :)

I don't have the unit, but I can tell you that the time and date are always simultaneously available.
It is common that devices have a built in real time clock that functions even when the receiver is turned off because it helps the receiver quickly start receiving if the unit's time is close to accurate when the unit powers on.
But a real time clock should maintain the date more accurately than the time even if it has not been reset by the receiver's time in a long time, so I'm mystified why the unit would not display the date correctly even if the receiver isn't fully operating yet.
