Hakko Desoldering Equipment
« on: December 11, 2012, 09:02:59 pm »
Greetings EEVBees:

--I am thinking about buying some used Hakko desoldering equipment on eBay. I want to use a stand alone vacuum pump. I wanted to know if the Hakko FM-2024 Hand piece is compatible withe the 470 series vacuum units. Also I would like to hear from any who has used Hakko desoldering equipment.

"Happy for you to desoldering, please."

Best Regards

I currently own a Pace SX-80 running off a ST-125 station and a Hakko 808. The Hakko requires a lot less maintencne, the Pace tips seem to clog too frequently to my liking. The Hakko tips in my experience also seem to last longer. The Pace unit feels more comfterble to me to use, but I really can't hold that against the Hakko being a totally different design. If it wasn't for the fact that I alao own pace irons, thermojets and tweezers, I would probably only use/keep the 808.

Pace fixed the clogging problem with the introduction of the sx-90 tips, you can see the difference between the tips on this page here http://www.blackandco.com/govtsales/pace/PACE_SX-90_Solder_Extractor_Desoldering_Handpiece.htm

My sx-90 never clogs, they really have perfected the design.defiently worth upgrading tips.

The FX888 has been replaced by the FX888D. This unit is the same as the FX888 but DIGITAL  :-+

Sorry to hear that.  Digital readout is a plus  :-+ but a knob to adjust temperature is preferred by many.  :--
