I am hopefully closing on a house soon that has a wood stove chimney on it that is completely unused. The inlet on the wall of the house has been bricked over but the chimney is still there. I think its ~30ft tall and I think its either 10 or 12 inches in diameter. Anyone know how much I could get for this at a scrap yard? I personally think its an eye sore and it serves no purpose so it would be awesome if I could get a few bucks for it and put it into some other projects around the house. |

You would be better to sell the flue sections as second hand. They are very expensive. Other than that, call your local scrapyard and ask them what they are paying this week for stainless steel. |

Scrap? $zero dollars. Put it on CraigsList or GumTree. Price at 1/3 the cost of a new flue to incentivize buyers. If you want rid, settle for 1/4 offers. But the buyer hauls. |

I second the craigslist option. Take it down carefully and take good pictures and post it with good descriptions. Don't let a potential buyer take it down and make a mess of your house unless they are a bonded and insured contractor and then make sure in writing that they are liable for any damages. That stainless steel insulated flue pipe is stupid expensive new. |

Scrap steel $22/ton (USA average): https://iscrapapp.com/prices/ Stainless may be more. Is it worth the drive? Selling it for "never used" (Craigslist?) will be a lot more bother but potentially get you more. |
