Anyone recommend an isolated package TO-126 NPN?
« on: March 16, 2024, 11:54:39 am »
Hi all,

Does anybody know of a TO-126 packaged NPN which has an isolated package, ie does not have the exposed metal flat on the rear connected to the collector, or instead does not have the exposed metal flat & is all-plastic? I need such a part to use as a diode-connected thermal sensor - am currently using a BD135, but this is a pain in my application as metal flat is connected to the collector, hence I need an insulating washer etc,.

Alternatively, are there any diode temperature sensors out there which feature an M3 mounting hole, and are fully insulated?

Very many thanks for any help!

I *think* you are looking for a TO-126N package.   Mouser have some Toshiba ones that may be suitable. https://mou.sr/4ctTlaW

Have you considered a bracket to hold a TO92 transistor against the heatsink?
