Diagnostics of the SF6 High voltage switch
(1/1)
Dodo:
Hello everyone  ;D I diagnose the SF6 gas switch by the DRM method. During the diagnosis, it turned out that my arc-extinguishing contacts were damaged. Do you have any photos of examples of the condition of a serviceable and faulty switch contact for comparison?
I didn't find anything on the Internet  :-\. I will be glad if you help me  :).

Hello: Familiar with SF6 for HV contacts.

Have not used the DRM (Dynamic Resistance Method) .

I have never seen the photos you seek.

Suggest to query the mfg of the SF6 switch for contact photos and diagnosis.

As safety, insurance and utilites are involved, STRONGLY suggest you find the local utility, regulatory etc

Better to ask on a T&D forum or electricians professional rather than EEV blog.

Research with a good SE like DuckDuckgo. (NOT Google)

PS: SF6 is now banned in USA/EU/CA due to very effect on upper atm.

Most utilities transmission and distribution HV switches and CB (in the West) are being replaced by vacuum , oil, or air breakers.

SF6 is still in use in the UK, in fact Schneider are still supplying us with SF6 in their switches.

Hi  :)! Thank you very much, it's a pity that you don't have any photos either  ;D We in Morocco are also gradually starting to abandon them and switch to oil switches.

Could you drop the links to the forums? Sorry, but I can't find them  ^-^
Dodo:
You won't have a photo of damaged or worn contacts?  ;D
