I got myself a :MOVE mini to build with my son. It'll be his first steps into coding; curious to see how he likes it!

$100 on parts, $140 on an MLCC kit, $450 on an audio analyzer. All placed on today.
:phew: and I thought I was doing well.

How old is your son? My Dad was into electronics and he taught me a lot.

Socks and chocolate, plus a couple of shirts. When it comes to presents my partner is somewhat lacking in imagination and she's also not very technically minded.

So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I also bought some parts from Mouser that will upgrade the timing oscillator in my counter and add five 10 MHz outputs to lock other pieces of equipment. With my GPSDO plugged in it will sync to that but even without GPS the OCXO will keep things nice and stable. The PCB to do all of this fits in place of the GPIB card which I don't use.

Me and the Mrs bought a house - so in March moving from 45m2 to around 300m2!
My son got.... 7 or 8 lego kits covering trains, stations and houses (I include his because I get to help if I am lucky)
Second hand 34401A :-) working great
A chance to design my perfect home lab/electronics desk/fume cupboard etc..... (for the new house) rather than our dining room table

Looking forward in 2019 to the buy/sell part of the forum :-) and getting 10 ish projects finished I have not had the space or time to complete

This year we have gifts before Christmas.
The son needed a school notebook to get the HP Spektre + SSD disk backups. My wife has some sporting equipment and because I've been very good all year long, so I've got the new Ford Kuga STline.
The main gifts were soft gifts (socks, hats, towels), hard gifts (professional literature, perfumes, ceramics) and edible gifts (chocolate, salami and alcohol filled glass - interesting to disappear first, probably blame climate warming)  :phew:
Everything works as the weakest link in the chain
