Are all “858D” desoldering brands the same?
« on: December 29, 2021, 09:49:44 am »
I’ve seen an “858D” on eBay for £19.99, but it’s not Attention brand. Am I to take it that they’re all from the same factory and rebadged?

It’s this one, thank you; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185180310223?hash=item2b1d9b4acf:g:f4EAAOSwF7hhnKjc

Looks subtly different to my 858D clone, so I'm going to cautiously say 'no'.

The 858D as a model designator, I believe, is a clone of the Atten or Quick 858D, which is probably a clone of some other rework station.  So there are probably a number of companies that produce universally designed products here.  Such is the way of China.

I think the numbers originally came from Hakko products.
