In mobile thats what happens (at least to me). If I click in the arrow on the right of the topic title it goes to the first unread post since I last viewed the thread.

You can Ignore members or threads.
Members it is done with settings in one's own profile.
Threads/Topics you need to ensure your profile is set correctly in order for the Ignore feature to be active.
