Have you tried removing the battery, then powering it from the mains? Or else you could try the opposite, no mains connected and try to power it from the battery alone. Hope that may help.

Another thing to watch while powering on the laptop is to look at the power/hard drive/charging leds. Are they on solid? Or are some of them blinking? (hard drive led may blink randomly, but if it stays on the whole time it may indicate a problem). Also you could try to hold the power button when it's off until it turns on again and back off, then release it. If not already done, unplug all other cables such as USB devices, display cables etc.

Otherwise it may be a defect in your power brick or a component is malfunctioning.

If you are very lucky, only bios got corrupted. But most likely something died on the motherboard. As of only thing i can think which could bring it back until tomorrow, is trying to remove the 3V battery from the motherboard to reset cmos settings, but don't think this will help.
Check if power supply is outputting voltage, otherwise if it is dead, it could be that battery is discharged and notebook shuts down immediately after power up.

Remove the battery and power plug and hold the on/off button in for 30-60 seconds. Put both back into it and turn it on.

Beat me to it. I always do this with my Probook 4530s.

Check the fan for dust and fluff, I had similar with a Dell some time ago turned out the cooling pipe fins were blocked with debris and a feather.Turned on but overheated before boot up even finished.
