Are those missing chips really worth buying?
« on: October 15, 2018, 03:38:26 am »
Last time my colleague sold a chip worth thousands of dollars.
This surprised me. Is this chip really worth buying?
Why would the buyer to buy him with not hesitation?
i am curious about this?
have you this experience to buy expensive chips?

That's a really strange question. If you are fixing a piece of expensive equipment and need something you can't find elsewhere, then you will try whatever.

Without specifics of the chip, it is hard to tell, but obviously it was worth it for someone.

I don't know, marginally looks like just a misguided person.

Although yes, on deeper investigation, he is a spammer.

Some people will waste an inordinate amount of time & expense, finding "the correct component", when there are very effective "work arounds" using more readily available parts.
I have seen this with not only chips, but simple BJTs, capacitors, & resistors.

OK, sometimes, this is the result of customer rules, or Govt regulations, etc, but in many cases, it is just a silly mindset.

I was spared from such nonsense for most of my working life, working mainly in Broadcasting, where, if it worked, was reliable, & the equipment itself still met specs, modifications were not a problem.

Going from that to an environment where production was held up for two days because they ran out of 1.1k resistors used in a non critical circuit where they could have used  1k or 1.2 k, (which we had hundreds of), instead, had me doing this:- |O

When I think of "expensive component", I think about some obscure 40-pin IC running a piece of old industrial equipment. Replacing stuff like this on the fly is not easy, and I can see paying significant amounts of money just to get production going again.

Although cases like this are rare nowadays.

People pay quite a bit for old FPGAs, for example.

Several k$ is not that expensive, typical server CPUs are around that range. Look at some of the high-end FPGAs if you want to really see "expensive".

You are active at pushing your site only. This is the way to get banned.

Also it looks like it is not even your company, just some corporation you are working for. I suggest you remove that thing from the signature. This is indeed spam and just plain rude.

I would say keep that.
Keep the name, remove the link then. The link just grabs attention as spam.

That was allowed to be released in the sales purchase module, I did not publish it in all places, I don't want to discuss this issue, I think only the villain is stalking from it.
