This is for Sydney residents, and probably mostly for the older ones.
Gould's Book Arcade on King St Newtown has been a 2nd-hand book-lover's landmark for a very long time. All my life...
It's closing. This weekend will apparently be the last days open. Hours 11am to 7pm.
I find this very sad. Spending a few hours seeking gems in Gould's has always been a happy pastime for me. Sometimes could fine some nice electronics and science books. Now no more. They are opening a new shop in Newtown, but it will be much smaller and I doubt it will have that 'vast chaotic collection' atmosphere.
Currently they have a massive sale on, $1 a book, fill a box for $10, and a huge pile of boxes of semi-random books for $1/box.
As usual rummaging is a fairly random process. And take a torch, as they've cut way down on lighting.
