Patrick leaves a wonderful legacy through the generations of astronomers and scientists he introduced to the night sky

When I saw the latest "Sky at Night" the other day I was wondering how much longer he's going to be in it. RIP Sir Patrick!

yeah i was wondering this too the guy didn't look too good, very well done to him he did the sky at night straight for 50 years

Such a shame, he was a unique character. I hope he's also remembered for his many achievements, not just his eccentricity. I watched a documentary on him some time ago, his earlier astronomy work was inspiring.
