OK, so a manufacturer was Ebaying off a bit of SMD stuff on reels, etc. It looked like the end of a production run. I bid on a number of items and one of them showed an image of a full reel and quoted about 1000 pieces.
When I received the reel it was pretty much empty except for about 15 parts at the end, it looks like someone unspooled most of it and tore it off.
Being the cynic realist I am, I wonder if the price was not as they hoped and they just harvested all of it. The price was pretty cheap ( <$2), but the principle of the thing is annoying me. This is a respected local company, not a fly by night mob.
I know I should just give negative feedback walk away... but maybe I should argue the point with them?

link to the bid item might help for people to give you advice.

Clearly the 'respected' company does not give a s%@t about principle. Its rude and definitely worth arguing the point (If it was me). So if your back is up, let em have it :box:

Maybe they just went off the qty written on the reel?
-
The quantity was written on the bag and the auction image clearly showed the same bag as I received but with a full reel inside as opposed to the empty one I received.
Ah, stuff it, life's too short. As pointed out, it's probably some 'haven't got a clue what I'm dealing with' assistant told to get rid of it all on EBay. Got it out of my system having a whinge here... :P
Ahh forums.. in the old days we'd have to go to a bar to drown our sorrows to the barman.
Thanks for reading.. I'll have a rum and coke please.

I think I know the auction.
i was bidding on stuff aswell. R****E ?
I took a quick look at the 4 boxes of stuff I won and I think its all there.
Maybe you were very unlucky?

It would be polite to email them before you give them that negative, always give the seller a chance to fix problems. Of course, if they don't fix it, then slap em with the negative they deserve.
-
Email them via ebay and if you dont get a satisfactory response, negative feedback and paypal dispute. Chances are they will just give a refund, I would still give them a well written neutral to warn others.
BTW has anyone seen the new ebay (UK) terms and conditions yet. The seller is now going to be responsible for paying return P&P.

"Auction win"? Anything that involves paying money really cannot be described as a win. You should maybe call it an "auction voluntary burden".

A lot of things could have happened but I think the most probable thing that happened is that there was an employee in the chain somewhere that wanted some of those parts ;)
I visit each year a fair where a SMD manufacturer sells his rest spools and they really don't give a **** what is on it. They charge the same few $ for a reel with resistors (worth only a few $) as a reel with eproms or microcontrollers.
The profit has been made and the reels are all written off to 0$ so each buck they make extra is profit. They need the room so after this attempt they probably dump the rest in the garbage container.
I would always contact them and ask what happened since the delivered goods are not the goods that you bid on and make a remark that it is not about the money but the principle (of doing honest business) ;)
