Here's the tracking of an item I ordered :-//
http://www3.royalmail.com/trackdetails?trackNumber=RS126245269GB (http://www3.royalmail.com/trackdetails?trackNumber=RS126245269GB)
I'm very impressed they managed to deliver it to an Australian address, while the item was in Austria...
-
Yes that is a bit strange.
-
I may sound stupid, but I don't get it. What was the intended delivery address and origin? Sara you impressed by being a fast send out what?

I think that they mean that the package was intended to arrive in Australia, but it was 'delivered' in Austria. :o
-
No it came from UK but went to Australia, this was delivered correctly.
But they have a bug somewhere in the system and they put Austria on the Tracking details.
-
Oh okay, silly me! ;D
-
What's the big deal? They're practically the same place. ;D :P :-DD

I don't think so...
It never arrived to me in Australia, so I have to assume it was delivered to someone in Austria!
Who is probably very confused...

I thought I had it work out, but it seems I was wrong.

These statements seem to contradict each other. :-//

Maybe they'd be better of writing 'Straya instead of Australia?

I can beat that...California to Sydney, thence to New York via Jamaica (:wtf: ) ...still hasn't arrived (permanently) in Sinny.
-
Hey, at least yours isn't "delivered" in the wrong country!
-
It just got worse... :palm:

Lol and for those who don't actually know, the label pointing to London, really points to Norwich which is over 100 miles away from London.

Let's break this down. Jamaica is the name of a district in New York that houses a mail sorting hub. I've seen that name before, too, and wondered what it was. Departed from Sydney looks very much like a glitch in the system. So the real question is what your item is doing in Dubai, at least assuming that's not a glitch too. Maybe it's actually more economical to have an eastbound mail route, partly to use the winds as efficiently as possible, partly to place routes where the biggest volume of mail is transported. It's speculation, but I don't think it seems too implausible.

At least you didn't use Australia Post. You would never get the parcel, because they would "lose" it. Australia Post is made up of incompetent bunch of dunderheads O0 who could not run a BBQ, let alone of parcel service. Why do I despise Australia Post them? They cost me over $100K. And they have a habit of "losing" parcels.

Someone once shipped a package from US to me in Ireland and thought they would guess the country code as "IL". The rest of the shipping address was present and correct, but you guessed it... "your package has arrived in the Tel Aviv sorting facility" :palm:
What surprised me the most was that the tracking website showed this information for a day or so, then removed it from the tracking history, so I could only see that it had left USA, not where it was or had been...

A reliable surplus-parts vendor in Germany shipped some hard-to-find parts to me in Chicago (USA), with the correct address. I don't remember if it was someone at Deutsche Post or at DHL who read the "CH" in Chicago as the normal country code for "Switzerland", but it arrived at Swiss Customs who could not find Chicago in their country. By the time it came back to the vendor, he had already shipped me a replacement package.
As two asides, Mark Twain once referred to Berlin as the "Chicago of Europe", and some refer to Toronto as "Chicago run by the Swiss", but there is no Chicago in Switzerland.

Wow - I though my PCBs going from Watford to Dover via Glasgow was bad

The company is reshipping my order now...
I really do wonder how someone managed to deliver an item in the wrong country.... :-//
-
hopefully you get your package soon
