Every time I look into AGW, I decide that CO2 increasing from 0.03% to 0.04% has nothing to do with it, or at least there's no positive feedback effect from that small CO2 change, perhaps I should be shot. >:D |

I think the best thing we can do is listen to the scientists, the specific scientists who are experts in their field. Not some ideologically driven politician or arm chair expert quoting it was hotter/worse back in the day or some geologist espousing his expertise in climatic research. Science, by its very nature, is truth. Everything else is speculation and stories. This might be informative: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/jan/07/visual-guide-see-how-australias-bushfires-are-raging-across-the-country |

Everything else is just papers produced to keep up the cross-citations, to keep the grants flowing. Nothing can be trusted in the modern world. Nothing could ever be trusted until it was extensively replicated, but replication studies are a rarity these days because they are systematically suppressed. |

--- Quote from: coppice on January 07, 2020, 11:51:03 am ---People make some bizarre adjunct statements when they are driven by ideology, rather than research, evidence, and logical deduction. Things like "These are the worst fires for decades. Its because of human induced climate change.". They say these things with a straight face, and I think many of them have convinced themselves that those two sentences actually form a coherent argument. The above should stand on its own, but supporting statements may be needed for the ideologues out there. The first statement indicates that fires of similar severity occurred a few decades ago, before the effects of industrial society were nearly as great as they are now. So, however much industrial activity may have changed things, the fires provide no supporting evidence for it. The only clear effect of human activity is the large scale damage to property resulting from the mismanagement of settlements in areas known by the people of Australia, for thousands of years, to be prone to this kind of devastation. --- End quote --- It's not just about the fire in Australia. And the fact, that something like this happened before, does not explain the worldwide increase of Temerature on our planet in such a short period of time. The only consolation will be that it will not burn in the burned areas next year. And if I followed the argument, that we humans have no influence on it, this statement would also be just ideological and would say: The only reason to stick to it is the concern about the economic conditions. |
