In practice these days science is about keeping the grants flowing. [...]. Nothing can be trusted in the modern world. [...]

Yeah, f*ck science. In Youtube we trust.

That is not what he is saying and your implication is not helpful at all.

He has a point in what much of what is called "Science" today lacks one fundamental thing: Repeatability.
Just look at what calls itself Science these days with all the SJW type of Social Studies and questionable peer reviews. It is a Problem.

The repeatability problem is not confined to the iffy sciences any more. Biology is riddled with it, and chemistry and physics are getting infected with it too. The only thing that keeps engineering reasonably clean is that at the end of the day products produced from published papers either work or don't. Replication is just not treated with the respect it deserves. People can't get funding for it. People can't get the respect they deserve for doing it. When someone is caught making up data for their research, universities tend to protect them in case the adverse publicity affects their flow of funding. Its a mess.

Emphasis on the word CAN. Throughout history climate has been changing. I'm not denying climate change and my own observations also say it does get warmer but pinning every natural dissaster on CO2 levels is just too far fetched. That is just fear mongering (FUD).

--- Quote from: aargee on January 07, 2020, 12:20:30 pm ---I think the best thing we can do is listen to the scientists, the specific scientists who are experts in their field. Not some ideologically driven politician or arm chair expert quoting it was hotter/worse back in the day or some geologist espousing his expertise in climatic research.

Science, by its very nature, is truth. Everything else is speculation and stories.

--- End quote ---
No. Even science is truth by majority.
