I am after the type of mesh for the exact same purpose as in the attached photo but am having trouble finding it.

I can find stretchy netting used on vehicles at hardware stores, but the holes are way too large and smaller plugs and bits would easily fall through. I was hoping Ikea had a similar product but I can't seem to find it if they do.

I'm not exactly sure what the "proper" name for this would be. Any thoughts? An Australian supplier would be ideal.

Please add any sources in germany or europe, if possible ;) I think I will steal that idea.

Looks like a custom order or a one off perhaps?

I reckon it may be that stretchy material on outdoor furniture,

or my vote is to score some grey shade cloth and get it stitched with round metal crimp thingies for the corners and mid section
so you can screw or tie to the underside

Bunnings is your friend  :-+

and the local stitchery if you're no good with needles  :scared:

The elastic storage shown in the image appear to be map pockets, or very similar to them anyway. Many 4WD and Off-Road stores carry these and other storage products.

Mesh back office chairs are a source of such material....  but if you're not friendly with a local upholster there are other options.

Similar to the products for the offroad/professional vehicle market, there are "tent gear loft" mesh shelves which are lighter weight with finer material. Like all products, available in a wide range of value propositions.

Marine chandlers also stock similar storage compartments so Whitworths Marine might also be worth a look.

Ahh thanks guys! I didn't think to look in marine/4WD stores. I'll check those out.

That looks exactly like the wire management mesh that came with my Ikea IDÅSEN desk.  I think the desk in the picture may be an Ikea BEKANT.  See the fourth picture here (link might break if you select one of their non-US sites): https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/bekant-desk-white-s19006323/

I guess they don't sell the net separately, its held on by snap-in plugs that require specifically sized holes in the desk top IIRC.  Maaaaybe you could look for a part number in the Bekant/Idasen instructions and ask nicely at their customer service desk if they'll sell you just the net?

FWIW, the IKEA nets actually have metal rods in the long sides to keep them from sagging, but they also make it harder to get stuff in and out of then net.  I think you can kind of see them in the Bekant pictures.

Otherwise maybe pick up some fabric of your choice and some 3-5mm elastic cord from a fabric store and bust out the sewing machine?

Ahhh well spotted! They do sell that table here but it doesn't seem to sell the cable management separately. I'll make some inquiries with their "Spare parts" section. Thanks.
