Australians who shop at Jaycar

Next time you’r there, take a look a the $19.95 Crystal Radio kit.
Check the kit has Shottky diode type ST60P, or the Germanium diode type.
The kit isn’t a radio when it’s assembled with the ST60P type.

I message them on Facebook, and told them I’d be satisfied when it’s removed from the shelf in it’s current state.
It’s going to be the first kit a kid builds, and doesn’t work.
In fact in FB Amateur radio group, that has already happened, and probably countless times.

If you look at the kit on their site, their image of it does show a germanium diode.

Original kit had the luxury of not being on the ground.

Replaced with my own stuff, got ABC MW broadcast, and Amberley approach beacon on 359 kHz (original intent).

Replaced my own germanium diode with the supplied shotky type after this, and it’s broken.
