Avionics teardowns with a difference
« on: May 19, 2020, 09:49:57 am »
Hi Folks,

Came across a YouTube channel doing avionics teardowns. So what right? There are a few of those... This one is a bit different though.

Not only does he tear the stuff down, he fully reverse engineers it and connects signals at the end to make the device function. This is quite unusual I think?

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4Kz0sEXSqNkfi7W1PBKyMg

Only ten or so videos at the moment but he seems to be adding a couple a week.

Steve

I just thought I'd bounce this topic back to the top - it's criminal that this guy only has 300 odd subscribers.

He (carefully) tears down some really interesting stuff, reverse engineers it enough to work out how to get it working, then demonstrates it.

It really is great and he's pretty prolific with the output with at least one video a week.

Those are interesting, I hadn't seen these before.

I don't find his accent to be difficult to understand at all, he sounds French.

I think it's EXTREMELY refreshing to hear the beautiful, elegant French accent; we are DROWNING in screechy, speed-talking Americans (mostly Californians) online, and this is the perfect holiday from that.

Yeah, standard educated French accent. I comprehend > 99% of his words, though some take a bit of effort. Native English speakers (particularly those who've worked with Frenchmen before) definitely have an advantage in understanding him.

What I am bothered by is the way he pokes electronics with a graphite pencil!

He probably does it just to bother people that notice - he's succeeded

He has a strong accent sure, but he speaks slowly and clearly.

There are some -much- more annoying accents out there and they're supposedly native English speakers ;)

Your loss then. He has quite an accent, but it's not _that_ bad.

I admit I'm biased, though. I worked for a French company close  to 10 years and the CEO of my current employer is also from France ;)

PS: maybe it becomes easier once you realize that "Opam" means "OpAmp" ;)

Everybody likes gadgets. Until they try to make them.

I have a lot of difficulty understanding most Asian and Indian accents but for some reason the various European accents don't cause me any difficulty at all. I took several years of French back in highschool but I never really used it for anything so most of it has left me although I can still understand some of the really basic stuff.
