Awesome 16x2 LCD displays purchased from EEvblog Shop!
« on: August 16, 2011, 11:59:10 am »
All I can say is WOW. I had been looking around for some decent prices for a while as i wanted to get a bunch for projects I'm building and plan to build. Closet competitor i could find to Dave's price was from Ebay at the equivelant of ~$4($24 for 6), where daves come in at $2.50($25 for 10)!

As Dave's in Australia, got them in my hands within a couple of days(which is impossible from anywhere over seas). and when i got them i was very happy with the modules that i received! nicely built, good clear display. what more could you want?

So if your in Australia and need some i defiantly recommend these. I'm really happy with the product and they work great! Cheers Dave

Thanks, glad you like them.
I think I'm currently the worlds cheapest supplier of 16x2 LCD modules!  :o
I've just fixed the images, and added a WHITE/BLUE version of the display as well.

Dave.

this is one of the first times that I have seen only to Australia. Now you know what it's like to find something awesome on the net and find out you can't get it shipped to you.

One thing i have to say is at least Dave states the fact on the actual page, not after you get to the final stage of check out. And another bonus is that you don't have to sign up to spend your money. Dave's got the right idea!

No, I'm not, sorry.
It's a PITA to ship things overseas from Australia, and these just aren't a high enough value to make the effort worthwhile.

Unfortunately you DO have to register on the shop to buy stuff.
I don't like that, but that's how ZenCart works. It's much better than the whole PayPal buttons on a HTML webpage thing, but the downside is that you do have have to register.
If anyone knows a way around it with ZenCart then do let me know.

Dave.

you can say that again, Dave would send way more volume than i would but the occasional things i do have to send its ridiculous. And being that the package weighed  ~400g -> 450g you would be looking at around $17 shipping (that's for unregistered, the cheapest option). almost double the cost. making the total ~$48.

Making this item not worth buy from other countries. so Dave has made the right call.

Anything over 430g cops Uncle Sam's $9 fee too:

forgot about uncle Sams surprise(never shipped anything over 430g)

400g to 450g is an estimate, being that the LCD's themselves weighed 380g total and as it was well packaged it would easily be over 430g.(i got to say i was very happy with the packaging!)

I thought you had off loaded all those LCD's to the Auzzie winner of the 555 contest? Just how many do you have??  ;D ;D

I don't ever think I've read as much disappointment on the other side of the coin when folks in the US refuse to ship internationally.  ;)

Are the 'serves you right' comments really directed at the right people? How many of the people that you see expressing their disappointment here live in the US?

It's a similar situation in Canada too.  I do a lot of eBay selling, and anything from Canada to the USA costs no less than $18-$20 to ship with any kind of tracking, and it goes up from there. Overseas is even more. My listings have high shipping charges, and I am sure I lose  some buyers because of it.

I can ship small items in bubble wrap for less than $8.00 using the post, without tracking, but they (almost) *always* get lost.  I've had more items go missing that way, and I usually refund the buyer, because I don't want unhappy buyers, so it's my loss.

Although I would love to buy these LCD's from Dave, I totally understand the shipping situation.

--Cheers!

I have shipped many thousands of items over 20+ years, to all over the world using regular untracked post, and have so far have lost precisely 1 item.

A bit tongue & cheek. Even at the beginning:

Gotta say, overall, I'd really feel bad for someone in Nigeria, they probably can't get anyone in the world to ship anything to you.
