Not sure how many people have found this, but EXT2FSD is a free tool/driver for Windows computers that allows 100% transparent reading of EXT2,3 and 4 partitions. It allows you to mount and read/write to them. You can even host Samba shares on them, so you no longer have to use NTFS as an in between for Linux and Windows. You can read your linux boot partitions, and it makes for an "That is what I have been missing all this time" feeling.
http://www.ext2fsd.com/People have been iffy on it's reliability, so don't take the risks if you don't want to, but so far I haven't had any issues whatsoever with EXT2FSD.
Tad bit OT, but an amazing tool I have found.
