Beer Armageddon: Beer prices at Oktoberfest (and how to deal with them)

The beer is sold by the masskrug, which holds one litre. It looks big because a litre is a lot of beer.

Benta:
A "mass" = 1 litre (I live in Munich). Normal order in a pub/bar/Bierkeller would be "ein halbes" meaning 1/2 litre. Smaller is not offered.
If you want smaller, you need to go to Köln/Cologne, where they are very proud of their thimble-sized "Kölsch".  ::)

Nominal Animal:
I like Weihenstephaner Vitus (weizenbock) and Hoegaarden (witbier), although I haven't drank any alcohol in the last year or two.  They cost here about 10€ a liter in the store, double to triple that in bars.  :-//

Zeyneb:
Hmm, €12.60 for a beer? I can buy a 500 ml beer from the supermarket for € 0.59. Knowing I'm not pissing away al that money and enjoying the comfort of my own house, without any risk of having obnoxious people around I do prefer the latter.

AndyBeez:
(Siri) Phrasebook terms for Oktoberfistfest visitors.

:( Bitte ein halb großes. (Half a gross one please)

  Langsam trinken (Drink slow)

:-- Benzin ist billiger (Gasoline is cheaper)

:scared: Alkoholfreies bier!!!! (Fun free beer)

:'( Mein Krug ist leer (My jug is empty)

:-// Ich habe kein Geld mehr (I have no more money)
