Title: Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme interview podcast
Post by: cdev on January 05, 2019, 02:47:12 pm
Elizabeth Holmes was a con artist.

This is an interview with con artist Bernie Madoff ($60B)

Anyway, I found this interview interesting. He portrays himself as the victim.

I've had a lot of conversations like this with - I don't know what you would call them.

If you just play along with them, they'll open up to you.

No remorse... He doesn't have it. No empathy. That's whats missing.

Here's the thing most people miss.  If you add up the total impact of street crime -- the total value of things stolen by street criminals in the USA it works out to something under $20B USD per year.  So, all the muggings and car jackings and burglaries and typical bank holdups -- all of it works out to about $20B per year.  Meanwhile, one man plundered $60B.  These high end white collar criminals are vastly more impactful to the economy, but the laws and the law treats them differently.  But even the $60B ponzi scheme by Madoff pales in comparison to the trillion that was siphoned from the economy by Wall Street and the Banking industry just a decade ago.  And even that pales in comparison to the transfer of wealth and income from the working class to the leisure class that's taken place int he last 40 years.  Estimates for that begin at about $15T.

What gives with con men named Bernie?  Before Madoff, the biggest con man was Bernie Ebbers.  Maybe the name Bernie inspires trust in some people.  Bernie Madoff had two names going for him, first is "Bernie" and the second was how much he made-off with.
