Best memoirs for your favorite electronics/tech companies
« on: September 25, 2015, 11:12:54 am »
Just the other day I found the HP memory project http://hpmemoryproject.org/timeline/company/memories_home.htm which has memoirs of some key people who worked there for 40+ years. HP is a very special company for me; I used their equipment in my high school (instead of tek!!) for my electronics based science project (it was a clap switch), and then in college and grad school even after changing my major a few times, I ended up using HP GC and HPLC; so it was safe to say that I got great kicks reading about how it all started and how they slowly expanded to include such a vast lineup of instruments.

I am wondering if any of y'all know of other projects of these kind for your own favorite companies. Examples could probably include IBM, bell labs, Varian (used lot o their stuff too) etc.

Great links helius; I'll check it out.

I found a document on early history of Varian:

I second folklore.org for stories about the Macintosh development: http://www.folklore.org/

If you like HP history, HP9825.com has some great stories about early HP computer development: http://www.hp9825.com/

The transistor museum has a lot of oral histories of early transistor development: http://semiconductormuseum.com/Museum_Index.htm
