Hi everyone! Merry christmas.
I have a simple question... Looking for some windows software for basic binary calculation. Windows calculator is a bit naff.
I'm after:
Hex -> Bin -> Dec and back, and all the other good stuff
Shifting, adding etc all in a simple interface.

I bought an fx-991ms for this purpose. I have yet to review it's effectiveness during a coding session.

They really screwed up the calculator with Windows 7; luckily you can use a calc.exe from an older version, or Microsoft Calculator Plus (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=32B0D059-B53A-4DC9-8265-DA47F157C091&displaylang=en), which is just as good or even better depending on your needs.

Xcalc (http://www.tordivel.no/xcalc/ (http://www.tordivel.no/xcalc/)) - which can do much more then binary stuff only.... if you prefer RPN like the old HP-Calculators....

You could use Calc98 ver 5.3 (last free version, I think) http://calc98.software.informer.com/5.3/ (http://calc98.software.informer.com/5.3/)

you could just type the calculation into google, e.g. 0x1234 + 0b011010 in decimal

Just found new Calc98 ver 5.6 handles fractions (if this helps). It's 11.85 usd but they don't take PayPal (wish there was a trial version). http://www.calculator.org/OrderESDWin.aspx (http://www.calculator.org/OrderESDWin.aspx)

Have you got a telephone that has an embedded Android operating system?
If so, you cannot go past Real Calc. The best programmers/engineers/technicians/hobbyist calculator by a mile, designed and written by an engineer. Very powerful, super easy to use and loaded with very features. For those HP fanboys out there, it has an RPN option. I use it a lot for hex/dec/bin conversion. It is free, but I was so I pressed I paid the couple of dollars registration which also unlocked some extra features.
Sorry Apple users, it isn't available on iPhone, but who cares. :-DD
