Bios battery and anti static packaging
« on: March 18, 2014, 07:02:59 pm »
Hello this may sound like a really dumb question but I have a quantity of single board computers which I am selling, I have purchased some anti static bags to package these in. Do I remove the bios battery before packaging or is it safe to leave it on the board?

Thank you for reading :)

IMHO it's ininfluent to leave the battery on place.

Two things to notice:

1) Every time I bought a motherboard, BIOS battery was installed and everything was wrapped in antistatic bag
2) Antistatic bags offer high resistance, Dave actually talks about that in a video; unfortunately I don't recall the exact video number.

Good luck with your sales!  :-+

Be careful, as some countries have issues with sending batteries past customs.  I can't buy batteries from Mouser, for example.
Maintain your old electronics!  If you don't preserve it, it could be lost forever!
