I wonder how did Black Friday came into existence in Europe.    I always thought that in the US it evolved out of the Thanksgiving weekend bridge, when many people take the opportunity to do some advanced Christmas shopping, with discounts feeding the frenzy.

I grew up in Spain and I do not recall anything like it.

Media and Amazon, mainly. Black Friday was something us Brits would laugh at Americans in YouTube and Facebook videos and news reports of fights over toasters.

Now, accelerated by falling Christmas sales, it's quite big here too. I will admit I used it for almost all my Christmas shopping, along with a Prime trial.
