Boston Dynamics new Atlas Robot.

(1/3) > >>

BrianHG:
Winner, or Looser?

globoy:
It's supposed to be pretty strong too (according to an IEEE article).

On one hand it looks pretty amazing.  It may not look quite as polished as some of the other humanoid robots but BD has history actually deploying robots with Spot and they have a powerhouse manufacturing partner as owner who can give them both a market and invaluable testing ground.

On the other hand, when I consider the rush to get AIs controlling these things, it's kinda the stuff of nightmares the way it just starts coming at the camera while getting itself aimed forward...

BrianHG:
It's the speed at which it was able to effortlessly get up which is the impressive part.
It doesn't even look like it was even doing it as fast as possible.

As for it's looks, it looks like it was designed to operate in harsh environments.

ClarenceMorse:
No doubt. It looks good so far. Carry on!

jonovid:
I say bring on the Robotic Olympics
would like to see two of them wrestling.  :-DD
also
would like to see a 4 legged robot greyhound canter then gallop up to 40 mph
leaving Spot the dog in the dust.

as a fan of robot wars & battlebots
wheels are so passe IMO
