I would like to know is that the BPW41N sensor is a linear or non-linear sensor with justification. thanks

Quite linear if used in a current source mode into a virtual ground at an opamp input, and,like any photodiode, not linear in voltage source mode, though running it with a bias voltage probably will be reasonably linear.

so yes it is reasonably linear within a range, though low light and bright light levels is going to make it non linear at the high end, and noisy at the low end.
