Well could this be the end of preventive maintenance as we know, like having maintenance people on a factory floor going around checking equipment at a schedule, being those people then assigned to fix stuff (or knowing some bosses, just fire then and outsource the work).
I see good things as being able to go to places where a human could be in danger:
- Close to working machines as the ones with robot arms;
- Damp/humid places with electrical cables submerged in water;
- Chemical gas atmosphere (non EX atmospheres of course).
But will it be another tool at the disposal or a replacement of a position?
What time frame we could see such happening: 5 years, 10 years, earlier, later?
