It is the whole web site like that. I guess the guy just making fun.
Or may be not

there is some value in it, even in good electronic (esp. for audio) commercial devices the larger electrolytes are glued or kitted together to prevent acoustical resonance. But to take it this far is a bit whacko IMO.

The glue is to stop them being damaged if the unit is thrown about or bounces around during shipping.
No for real serious applications as that you should glue your capacitor inside a shipping container  ;)

Wa? What?  WHAT?

In which bizzaro universe?

Large caps get glued down to stop them moving around / breaking off during transport etc.

Acoustical resonance..  :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

Havent you heard of ESR? It stands for E-coustical System Resonance. Is the measurement of how much current a capacitor can pass at audio frequencies before resonating!

Actually, that can make sense - if the capacitor is wobbling free next to some other part, it might start touching it thus producing a ringing sound.
Inside of a speaker is quite a vibrating environment.

I used to have an...herb...vaporizer made out of wood that looked a lot like those capacitors. Let me tell you, it really did make the highs pronounced!

I also find it a bit puzzling. You read about this on less scientific sites , esp audio sites and you can see inside expensive audio equipment strange mechanical contraptions around the large elco's, i have seen bitumen, lead and copper mechanical fasteners. Those can not be seen from the outside so just for optical effect is not the reason.
I will not make a statement here that it exists on larger electrolytics since I would like to have some scientific proof but I do know it is a well documented phenomenon with ceramic capacitors1,2.

The difference he's hearing might be actual changes in the characteristics caused by the loss of electrolyte/physical damage... |O :-DD

I like how we never even proposes any possible reasons for an improvement, other than a generic "companies are evil" jab. He's just like "Of COURSE its better, because its 'natural!'"

Look at the size of the VNM and VMP caps! How could they NOT pick up a bunch of noise?

Thanks for the addition to my audiophoolery collection  :palm:

"The treble became brilliantly sparkling, with no trace of sibilance..."

"Sibilance" is a not very often used form of the word "sibilant" - making an "SH" sound or a "sssss" sound.  So the mod removes the high frequency content of your audio so you can't hear the "sh" or "sss" in words?  How can that be good?

Or, is he throwing terms around at will without the bother of having to really express any real meaning?
