Many years ago around Christmas, American Express ran a series of commercials for their gift cards, redeemable in a wide variety of stores, to show how much better they were than cards issued by a retailer.
Each ad showed people given a card for a store that did not cater to their personal taste.
My favorite featured a card from a young person's record store (remember them?):
Shopper: "I'm looking for baroque music."
Clerk: "Is that the chick from Iceland?"
Shopper: "No, from the 17th century."
Clerk: "The 70s, man. That's over there in 'oldies'."
