Title: buydisplay.com - anybody used them?
Post by: DTJ on May 16, 2016, 10:55:42 am
I'm looking at buying some character displays.

Has anyone used Buydisplay.com? Their prices seem reasonable.
I was wondering if they are commercial grade displays or cheap & nasty factory seconds.

Any feedback +ve or -ve?

Thanks.

I bought a small variety of displays from them and received everything as described. I think I only spot checked 2 of the displays and they worked fine; I didn't check the rest. Everything appeared to be new (not salvaged).

No complaints here.

I've also used them in the past for a variety of displays.
All fine. Everything looked like good factory direct components to me.
They come across as professionals in their emails.  I do like the level of documentation they provide.

Just wish they had inventory on some of the OLEds I like to use.

Reviews look a bit iffy! Almost all 5 stars and the one 4 star says everything went perfectly A++ and was super quick delivery. So why the 4 stars?

Good to know there are some satisfied customers.

If you are worried and they take paypal, may as well try, if there's a problem you can always dispute it.

Tried them only once and was quite happy. Took a long time to arrive but I had expected that. No problems for me.

I checked them out and if they are legit, I shit my pants.

Then it got sucked back in because they don't have VFDs D:
They are on my shit list for getting me excited at a cheap source
of new VFDs (The best display)

My last LCD display came from their eBay store, and I was quite happy with it.  They'll be the first place I look for any future display needs. One of the things I liked was being able to archive a full datasheet for the display.

I purchased from them a couple times and was never disappointed. Their products were exactly as stated and were packed quite nicely.

Have shopped there a few times, never any problem. They package the displays well, and they arrive quite quickly.

Agreed, a place to get some 40x2 ones would be great since I really only have one decent one, and if there were any 8x2 or 16x2 ones that would be awesome.

Remember when dave had the big graphic VFD that was shattered?
I want one of those

Idgaf I want one. That is the best looking thing I have ever goddamn seen. VFDs look amazing already with natural light and the specific teal/cyan glow, but a graphic one with actual resolution? That is something that I want

NEED

I've got something close :P

Still haven't reverse engineered the connection I'd need to use this for anything yet.

Similar ones are easily several hundred minimum for some reason, which sucks :/

There was a whole bunch of free stuff from a foreclosure, there was this and a handfull of those 40x2 ones I mentioned. A bunch of other really cool stuff too but my sleep schedule was so screwed up, I could only get a bit in the evening and the rest was being removed the next morning :/

Reminded me of the VFD I got from newhaven. Only 4 row instead of 6 but I got the biggest I could find. Turns out I lucked out. I just checked their page (http://www.newhavendisplay.com/vfmodules-dot-matrix-c-586_22_131.html (http://www.newhavendisplay.com/vfmodules-dot-matrix-c-586_22_131.html)) again and all the big ones are now limited to minimum of 100. When I ordered I was able to get just 1. I better take good care of it.

Yeah I love the look of VFDs it is also just cool seeing the wires in there.
