Calculator With MOD
« on: April 02, 2015, 02:02:01 pm »
Does anyone know any models of calculators with MOD functionality, I am doing a computer security course and need it for the exam.

Thanks in advanced.

I just subtract the integer part of the number and multiply it by the original divisor.

e.g.

10 MOD 3 =
10/3 = 3.33333333333333333333
3.33333333333333333333 - 3 = 0.33333333333333333333
0.33333333333333333333*3 = 1

That can be done with any calculator.

TI-36X pro has a mod function that supports binary, hex and decimal.

What modulus are you referring? Binary mod or integer mod?

If it is for binary mod, then maybe you can use a calculator, such as calculating CRC.

If it is only for integer mod, then you can calculate using any calculator. If you can not do that, then you should really learn primary school math again.

Primary school was wasted years for me, learned nothing there. The state of primary schools in the UK is disgusting. I leaned my entire worth's of school education during secondary school as it was a far better school by about 1000 orders of magnitude.

Thanks for the suggestions. No more banning my head againced a wall.  |O

I just got my self a CASIO fx-7000GA.

While it lacks a MOD button it does have functions that no other calculator I have does.

The furmular that works on it is:  :-DD

n MOD d

Frac(Abs(N ÷ D)) × D

For example: frac(Abs(5^8 ÷ 43)) × 43 = 12.99999998, round up to 13 and we are all good.  :-+

It seems strange that all munfactors seem to leave this out and yet it is the Windows calculator.
