For what it’s worth, Amazon’s only solution, ever, is to replace the entire product. Like many retailers, they do not stock spare service parts, their system is not set up for that. (Even if an individual part is something they sell, their inventory just isn’t set up for that. And I’m sure their agreements with manufacturers are such as to only perform whole-product returns. If amazon shipped you a probe, it’d come out of their pocket. If they return the whole scope, it’s the manufacturer’s problem to deal with.)
Just know that a) they pay for the return, and b) if doing without the item would cause a problem, just ask them to do an advance exchange. It’s never been a problem any time I’ve asked for it. They simply ship another and give you a certain time (a month IIRC) to return the original, after which they would bill you for it if you don’t return it.
