Hi!
I study Automatics and Robotics in Poland and tomorrow I will present on seminar how PCBs are made. I watched the EVVblog's video about that topic and I would like to use it during my presentation. I would like to show the whole process, pause the video in several moments to describe what's going on the video. Of course the sound would be muted.

Is it OK to do this or it violates copyrights to the video?

Thanks all for answers!
Cheers!

Regardless of any legal considerations I can't see that you would get many marks for just adding a commentary to someone else's work. I think you would do far better illustrating your presentation with some diagrams or pictures that you have created yourself even if these are of a poorer quality than in the EEVblog video.

I get it and I will also add some images and diagrams of my own. I'd like to show the whole process of PCB manufacturing and it would be grate to use parts of EEVblog's video. Otherwise it will be hard for me to explain how the process flows and even harder for the audience to understand it.

I am not sure Dave is going to be too fussed about your using his content for education and not for profit.

However, the situation you are actually describing most likely falls under Fair Use which is an affirmative defense. That basically means you are admitting you are infringing, but the infringement is valid.   This can require a civil trial to determine if your defense is valid. However it most likely won't be worth the time because you are using it for education, and not profit.

So to some up, you can probably use the video in your presentation no matter what since you are educating, but kudos to you for asking!

I don't see any issues just showing the video. It's on Youtube, so everyone can see it anyway. If people don't want their videos (or ideas/knowledge)being used, they shouldn't share it.
Naturally all copyrights go to the owner.

But to be very honest, most people don't even ask these things and just simply do. I have seen many presetations (commercial, educational en public) were people show these things all the time?
Nobody really cares about it as long as you don't use it to directly gain profit (revenue or whatever) from it.
(so it's only used for educational or illistrational purposes)

As far as I know you need to ask Youtube, and not the youtube uploader. If you're really in doubt and hesitating, just ask both Youtube and the uploader.

The videos posted to YouTube remain the sole copyright property of their creators. There is no need to ask YouTube.

We can hypothesize all day, but it's a case of it's nice for you to ask, even if it is pointless.
I forget who I am sometimes, but then I remember that it's probably not worth remembering.
