Can we sue cellular providers for Wifi calling charges?

(1/2) > >>

Raj:
So Wifi calling charges are like, being billed for making a normal call while also being billed for using your data on whatever wifi you're paying for.

jmh:
Our provider (UK) set these charges out when they first introduced wifi calling and I can choose to enable it or not. It sets out that these calls come out of my usual ration just like normal calls. IMO I can't see how you can sue someone for using something that you've been told about unless you've not actually been told and you can prove a reasonable expectation that such phone calls would be free somehow.

Rerouter:
If calls where being charged as the data usage, there price would have fallen to near 0 in recent days, instead its essentially a voip service that your calling through, and with all the various agreements that is what they believe that service is worth per minute / call.

Check the endlessly long terms and conditions, they will probably have some blanket claims about not be responsible for the cost of data charges incurred by wifi calling.

PA0PBZ:
When my provider introduced Wifi calling they had a FAQ about it and there was a point about payment and they said that it still used most of their infrastructure which I see as a valid point. And since I have an unlimited bundle anyway I decided not to bother.

tautech:
Unless you're calling peer to peer I imagine charges would apply.  :-//
