Can you help ID this ~25 year old piece of tech equipment?
« on: April 15, 2021, 09:55:44 pm »
It kinda looks like a HP Logic Dart. It's from a 1994 TV show. I searched some sites that carry props and stuff but found nothing.

It doesn't look like a prop, more like an actual piece of 1990s tech that looked cool enough to be in space.
Hoarder of 8-bit Commodore relics and 1960s Tektronix 500-series stuff. Unconventional interior decorator.

I only know the tektronix handheld video test signal generator but I'm going to guess that's a matching monitor.

I can fairly easily convince myself it says tektronix in that blurred text along the top edge too.

Presumably obsolete by now so probably not in the current lineup but tek archves for broadcast TV equipment is where I'd look.

It looks like there is a camera attached to it or built into it as I can see the elevator moving in front on the screen.

The Tek WFM90/91 was their handheld waveform monitor & vectorscope. That is not what is in the picture but it is similar.

Hah, this thread reminded me when I discovered that guards in the film Total Recall had a Casio FX-250D calculator strapped to their arm:

In the 90s the Intermec handheld scanner/PCs looked similar, this seems different though...

That looks like a barcode reader, and the big pushbutton in the middle and the full keyboard for writhing codes+numbers is compatible with that.

I'm thinking a portable CATV or CCTV tester?
