Hey all, I got a delta combination belt and 8" disk sander for free on kijiji due to a blown motor, I fixed the wiring as best as I could but something got caught, and as I was pulling the rotor out, the enameled wire ripped (thanks nagging annoying people when I'm working) and in a spot where I can not access it or fix it, so I'm stuck getting a new motor.

There have been a few on kijiji for fairly cheap, not sure if they are available, but I could hopefully get a 1/2hp one to upgrade it from the 1/3hp it originally had, however I can't get the damn plate for the sanding disk, and thus the pulley as well, off of the damn shaft, no matter how hard I try, and the shaft is some sort of tempered steel so I can't even drill it without it taking ages.

Anyways, can you just buy the pulley and plate for these? What is the proper term for the plate the sanding disk goes on?

When you explicitly tell them you are going to be working on something and not to bother you, and they slam the door open complaining about something completely unrelated to you as you are trying to unhook one of those pain in the ass enamel wires, it is.

Found the sticker with the model number, it's a 31-340, maybe looking in the manual will show something hidden to take the disc off but I doubt it.

edit: this site has basically every part as far as I can tell and the plate is only $23, that's not bad, though idk how much shipping would be.

If it is the armature then it will be easy to rewind yourself, or even just buy the armature as a spare part.

It's the external windings (I believe armature is the one on the rotor, right?) and the one on the rotor is enclosed or it uses some different method.

Waiting on a couple replies from kijiji to see if people still have the motors, if so I could get it then order the parts, though I would need to take it to a machine shop to get a slit cut in the shaft so that I could use one of those keying sections or whatever you call them.

Armature or stator. Rotor is the moving part. Stator rewind is easy, just fiddle. Rotor rewinding is something you only do if you have experience and a lot of time, or send to a rewinder to do. Rewind here is about $250 for a small motor, and takes about 3 weeks. I have had some done as the original was not available as a spare part any more.

Yeah, the guy has 3 different electric motors, same rpm, one is 1hp, one is 1.33hp, unsure of the other, and he is selling all 3 for $30, so I can probably just buy the one that fits for $10. Lot cheaper, then I just need to order the disc plate and destructively take this off to try and get the pulley, or maybe order both, getting them off would still be good but this one has some dents from where I was hammering. Just near the middle though.

The way I see it if I am going to spend a decent bit I may as well just buy one new since these ones were $200 or so, but I don't need one that badly, it would just be nice to have, so if I can rebuild it for say, $60 that's well worth it. Need a new sanding disc and belt too, though the belt is still not too bad.
