My best mate, well he's kind of my unofficial Dad gave me a Casio M1 Calculator today,
He bought it new 50 years ago when he started his Engineering Apprenticeship,
he was 23 years old then and he's kept it all this time.
I am quite stoked about it, it has no real monetary value and i wouldn't sell it £200
I might for £500 though :-DD
Anyway I noticed a couple of strange things about it,
It has a MR (memory recall ?) button but no way of putting anything in the memory
and also if you do 100 + 10 % you get 111.11111
Really love it though :-+

For how the memory works, it is likely that pressing the equals key stores the current result in the memory. Which means the MR key will recall the result of the last calculation to include in the current calculation.
For percentages, try 100 * 10% (will likely give you 10), then press the + key (will likely add 100 + 10 to give 110). You may need to press the = key after the plus key (try it and see).

If that's from 1964, I'm Miley Cyrus.

I'm from the mid 60's and when I was a kid my dad used slide rulers, actually he taught me to use them and the school wouldn't let me use them for the same reason that later they didn't allow calculators.
So that one there can't be from 64, maybe mid 70's

More like 1975, I have a similar one from around that era, and it still works beautifully.

He's just over 70 yrs old so allowed to get the dates mixed up :-+
