Hi there,
Random request - Does anyone know where you can get a standard IEC C13 to UK 13a plug with a moulded in current sense loop?
I remember stumbling across them by accident and thinking i must get some but i've lost the supplier's details and can't find them again despite a lot of searching.
They had a standard (1.0mm squared or similar) 3 core flex between the two connectors, but along the length of the cable the live conductor was broken out in a little loop so you could get a clamp meter around it. The loop was covered in plastic injection moulded onto the cable making it robust and perfectly safe. It looked like a moulded "lump" on the cable with a little ear for your clamp meter to hang on.
This is to allow unskilled people to take current measurements of IT equipment in perfect safety. Yes i know you get PDU's that will perform current measurement on each outlet, but they are ridiculously expensive for what they do.
Failing that i was looking at a Megger MMC850 clamp meter which will measure current on a multicore cable. Don't know how well they perform though. Has anyone used one? They are relativley cheap at £160 or so.
Thanks,
