Charging protected cells

so I got a new protected 14500 900mAh with onboard usb-c charging

I measured 0.33A-0.35A via the cell onboard charging using a USB meter

question: has anybody tried to charge a protected cell at max 1C in an external charger?  will it trip the cell protection circuit?

so far I only dared to charge this 900mAh cell at 250mA on an external charger, but that took like almost 4hrs…can I charge that cell at 1A ?

This is entirely dependent on the cell protection circuit used, which is usually matched to the cell itself. EG a 10A capable cell might have a 10 or 15A protection circuit.
But the limit is usually for discharge, which is much higher than charging.

What you should do is look up the spec of the cell and see if it is rated for 1C charge.
