Cheap Chips for SMT Testing?
« on: May 29, 2021, 11:32:58 pm »
I will probably be getting a cheap Pick and Place unit (perhaps the CHM-T36VA), and am wondering if I can find a source for guinea-pig chips?  I don't mind wasting a few spools of 0402 and 0603 resistors, but I don't want to spoil my expensive QFN36 and 48TQFP chips, or some of the more expensive SOT23 and SC-70 parts.  Can anyone suggest a source for cheap parts in these packages?  This is just for dialing in the physical placement, they don't have to be functional.
We'll search out every place a sick, twisted, solitary misfit might run to! -- I'll start with Radio Shack.

You might be able to buy small amounts of chips on eBay or Alibaba sort of listing.

You may have solderability issues with random chips from ebay. We use Practical Components.
