| Cheap, easily available, 1.27mm/1.25mm pitched wire to board cable assemblies? |

Any tips for good options for cheap and "generic" (available from multiple manufacturers, the way 0805 resistors or 7400 series ICs are) cable assemblies (premade and precrimped) and corresponding board headers (though hole types desired). I've used things like molex picoblades in the past for this sort of thing, but they are awfully pricy and I'm working on something which will use quite a lot of these, plus a lot of the length and conductor count combinations aren't seemingly available right now. I'm interested in 2,3,4,6 and 12(or higher up to 16) way options particularly, and I'm after single row types not grids or the shifted grids of some ribbon cables which in practice have two sets of 2.54mm connectors pitch shifted by half. Any suggestions of the names of any such connector and cable series? As I said, ideally generic due to all the logisitical difficulties inherent in buying pretty much anything specific which comes from only a single manufacturer thesedays. Thank you |

Thanks for the tip, turns out there are through hole* FFC compatible headers, just one trouble though, FFCs can't snake around complex shapes in 3D. Yes, you can do some cunning fold angles, but they can't bend in multiple directions at once the way a wire or ribbon cable can. *I do use SMD stuff, but for connectors I always swear by through hole, just incase more force somehow gets applied to it than one intends. |
