Chipageddon, Digikey, and ADI
« on: November 22, 2021, 05:08:40 pm »
I placed an order for some ADI DSP's back in May, with a promised delivery date in September.

September comes and goes, I ask DK "what's up?  I haven't heard anything!"

"OH, YOUR PARTS ARE DELAYED UNTIL Q4 2023. BUT IF YOU ANSWER THIS LIST OF QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT THESE ARE TO YOU, AND WHAT YOUR APPLICATION IS, AND MAYBE PAY MORE, WE'LL SEE WHAT WE CAN DO"

How is this possibly an acceptable business practice?  Did DK or ADI sell them out from under me? Now I have to beg and plead to reduce their 2.5year leadtime, when I was promised 4 months?

I'm pretty pissed about all this, and am unsure if I should be more pissed at DK or ADI.

/rant

I doubt DK is to blame here, they probably just went off the numbers given to them from ADI.
Then either someone bought them out from under you, as you say, or they weren't able to make them due to increased IC manufacturing demand.

Whats the part number?

Oof that's a crappy situation to be in... Might be worth having a look on netCOMPONENTS if you want stock sooner

Thanks.  ADAU1451/2 or equivalent (full speed version).  This is probably ADI shenanigans.
