Ok, how are our scientific measurement-oriented EEVers feeling about this?

 - The antinode detection method is not particularly accurate
 - The measurement of the distance between them is not accurate
 - The frequency of 2.450000000 Jiga  :palm: Hertz is likely nominal, not exact
 - No consideration for the reflected signals has been applied

Otherwise, it's a cool demo.

I feel it was a very well conducted experiment, as he used a clean plate and ensured the chocolate remained fit for consumption.

A practical application of science, and you get chocolate at the end.  :-+

He got the speed right to better than 1% in spite of the errors.  He identified the errors in the video (they match those of earlier commenters).  And he did something that just about any STEM student could do with little or no cost.  Even if you have to buy the microwave and chocolate here in the states you will have spent less than $100.  A fun way to get the answer.  Seems a total winner to me.

I feel sorry for all the elementery-school science fair judges who will now see variants of this experiment endlessly repeated for the rest of their lives....

Next step is remove the magnetron from the oven housing so you can emit the radiation directionally and remove and issues with reflected waves.   >:D

I hear you, but at least it adds one to the list of standard tropes they see over and over again.
