Yeah, the same way all those cheap Chinese electronic products and devices that don’t have the C-tick EMC compliance label have disappeared from the Australian market.

What a bullshit argument. You lay blame on the child, when clearly their safety is the responsibility of the parent AND society to implement safety standards. And with respects to safety standards, they come about every time when we identify an issue with products and their negative impact on human life. In this case, we identified that batteries housed in a certain way pose a choking hazard, and is a common enough occurrence that perhaps we should address the issue. And why not? It's not going to impact your life adversely. In fact, we may even see better designed products in the end.
