They did that a while back.  The USA has lots of rare-earth mineral resources as well, however the mines were shut down when China ran them out of business.  Being environmentally responsible is expensive.

Supply will be back up in time, until world resources dwindle.  Hopefully material science will keep up using more readily available minerals.

they are obviously far far far more intelligent than the damn British, we had oil sitting on our doorstep as it were, we were in a position to be fuel independent for a long time, what did we assholes do with it ? yes thats right we sold it to every tom dick and harry. Where do we get our fuel now ? from the Arabs at exorbitant prices. And what do some of these bastards with too much money to know what to do with it do ? err well one is buying up all the vintage cars he can lay his hands on (in identical pairs) and then locks them away in a hanger in the middle of the desert, so we are loosing our vintage car heritage as well to some nutter ! (and no doubt there are more).

the quest for green/alternative energy should as much a quest to be free from other countries monopoly as it should be for the environment, why should we hand all of our cash over to people that just want all they can out of us to make our life theirs and take from uis what we have if they feel like it because money always talks the loudest, when the world is in the shit don't think you will get better help because your in an industrialized country, hope you have pleanty of money to give to some idiot to look after you although by them money will be pretty worthless ! perhaps store up gold instead, even God with all his powers wanted Gold out of man !

LOL Simon.. You sound like me as regards what the government have done with a once 'Great Britain'. Not only has is gone down the pan already, our new government are intent on pushing it further down it seems :(

The whole governmental system in the UK needs a total overhaul as the powers that be are only interested in one thing. Continually lining their own pockets.

*Rant over* :)

It goes deeper than that it's the whole British attitude. I spent my life from aged 10 to 24 in Italy and came back to England 3 years ago to find what a dump Britain now is. We are a world wide whore, too damn scared to say how things should be and let ourselves get controlled by other nations and cultures

Correct!

It's been like that for a long time though mate. I've lived here all my life (I'm 42 now) and I've watched England decend further into what looks like a dark corner. Only folk who can afford to move away will have the option of change and I tell ya... If I had the chance to start again, I'd be off tomorrow.

It's sounds like doom and gloom but I can't see England getting better any time soon. The pen pushers can do all they like to manipulate the figures and make everything sound rosy, but everybody knows the figures are incorrect.

I often wonder what will happen here, I mean our soldiers are at war and loosing lives, but what for? It certainly doesn't seem to be helping make England a better (or safer) place to live :(

Sorry for OT post OP

rare earth elements  =  materials used for the called " Green technology "   solar panels and wind generators .

China owns the 60% of the global resources of the specific " rare earth elements" ,
and the Chinese government own the  95% of the Chinese resources.

About the petrol prices , I do not blame the Arabs, but the ones who are the middle man ,
and they are  the   BP boys and others ..

I'm afraid the Arabs control the price too although yes it's all the middle men too (and i hate to think what nationality many middle man companies are owned by really at the top)

Britain had the option of having it's own reserve on our doorstep and we blew it now if anything we have to pay all that transport

The only thing responsible for the high prices in the UK is the government's high tax on fuel.

More people would move to more environmentally diesel but there's an even higher tax on that to compensate for the higher MPG.

The government have been short sighted, they got in to debt without thinking about how they're going to pay it back and they sold the oil to make a quick buck, rather than thinking about the future.

Well I have lots to say against the political  base lines of UK .
But then some one will remind us , that the political conversations are not welcome on public forums.

So I will limit my epilogue by just saying , do not buy this book ...
Do not offer an penny , to such persons .

I'd go along with you there Kiriakos mate. I personaly won't be buying the book either as I can't stand Tony (teflon) Blair. However there is one good thing that will come from those that do buy the book, and that is all the proceeds from this publication will be going to the British Legion which is great.
